An apology would have gone a long way, and a permanent fix would have been the icing on the cake- but a condecending tone and a free case? WTF?
Apple claims that .55% of users complain about call quality- That’s because they KNOW the quality is bad, and they also KNOW that there is nothing calling Apple or AT&T will do for them other than waste more of their time.
It’s not a mystery that the phone has terrible reception, it’s all over the internet and it’s right in front of their face. Right, I can see the millions of iPhone 4 owners making an appointment at the Apple store to tell the 22 year kid behind the “genius” bar that their phone doesn’t get good reception to be told the same thing- either there is nothing wrong with their phone or they can return it- in the same condescending tone that captain jobs did at the lame press conference.
What a joke.
BTW, if you believe Steve, then check it out for yourself, go to the Apple store, hold ANY of the phones on display with the “death” grip and watch the signal drop. Make a call and do the same thing, and you’ll see the same crappy result. Furthermore, don’t forget that the “engineers” at Apple were fudging the calculation for the signal strength display since the beginning. These guys make great devices, and they make great software, but they have very little integrity. My money is with an Android phone because of this ridiculous response- not to mention they no doubt knew of the problems with the antennae at the May keynote.
